An Australian chain of stores called Woolworths has re-branded themselves to bring across the idea of fresh food but Apple wants to put a stop to that. Not because it’s a bad idea but because their new logo is apparently too similar to Apple. Umm, in what way exactly is it the same? Is it the green color, the spiral effect, the cursive leaf? Is it even and Apple? What if it’s a peach?

I do have to say it’s a far cry for Apple to even worry about this until I read that Woolworths is coming out with electronics (i.e. MP3 players) that will have the new re-branded logo. Whoa, now you’re starting to tread on someone else’s territory. Apple is only known for electronics and is the only one I know of featuring a fruit as their logo. This is when Apple can raise their hand and say “I don’t think so!”
But Woolworths has insisted that the logo is meant to represent the letter W with connotations of freshness, rather than depicting an apple. It also denied that a range of Woolworths gadgets were in the pipeline.

I’m sure this is not over since Apple was in a long brand battle with Apple Corps, a company that was set up by The Beatles.

Many of you might have realized the Daily Dose section of our blog hasn’t been getting some love lately. Why you ask? The answer is quick and simple. We’re just too busy, which is also a good thing of course.  We decided on making the blog a general section were we can talk about anything at anytime, which will be beneficial to us and you.

Let’s all bow our heads in silence as we say good-bye to the “Daily Dose”.

Westminster Promotions is one of the very few companies that I can give an absolutely unqualified recommendation – they consistently outperform, no matter what project I throw at them. What started out as a relationship to get some professional looking business cards has turned into one where Westminster is now a key partner in our business, covering everything from marketing services to logistics and inventory management; these guys are absolutely fantastic.
