Issue 13: Warehouse Tour

Boxes, packing tape, scales, oh my! This month’s newsletter features our Logistics team who tirelessly make sure all products are received and shipped out with the utmost care. Here’s a glimpse into what they do:
Our fulfillment and distribution center is co-located with our headquarters in Sunnyvale, CA. Our 20,000 sq. ft. building provides for the perfect combination of attention and care to enable shipping orders quickly, efficiently, and accurately. This positively correlates with our clients’ satisfaction, which is one of Westminster’s core principles.
Every morning our warehouse receives incoming merchandise that is either ready to be allocated into our clients’ orders, or incorporated into the inventory of our 20+ company on-line eStores that we support. Products are then picked and placed into appropriate bins to begin their warehouse journey.
The first stop is the receiving station where each incoming inventory is carefully inspected, counted, and evaluated against the original purchase documentation. Once an order passes inspection it is entered into inventory.
The next stop is either the shelves of the relevant on-line eStore, or to the packaging station. Our material handlers then selects one of our unique box sizes relative to each order. Products are then packed into the selected box and are transported to the next stop, the “Seal & Secure” station.
Each package is again checked for accuracy and product integrity. Orders are then cushioned for protection with stuffing and passed through for box sealing. After sealing, orders are assigned a shipping label and placed on pallets for outbound shipments.
Completed orders are then placed on appropriate outbound trucks ready to be transported to your doorstep.
We support almost every industry type and over 20 eStores. Our eStores range from large publicly traded companies to educational institutions and political campaigns. We recently launched 3 stores in the span of 3 weeks. The behind the scene work to support these aggressive rollouts could not be attained without a strong warehouse team and simplified workflow processes.
